Biography

I have always had a great fascination and passion for documentary films. I am particularly fascinated by documentaries with an essayistic, personal and subjective narrative style that can nevertheless be placed in a broader context, ask questions and stimulate reflection. I consider documentaries to be effective media that can actively intervene in social processes and create important forms of discourse. That's why I wrote my master's thesis on the ensemble film Profession: Documentarist (Sepideh Abtahi, Shirin Braghnavard, Mina Keshavarz, Firouzeh Khosrovani, Nahid Rezaei, Sahar Salahshoor, Farahnaz Sharifi), analysing its strategies of visualisation and examining the potential of documentary film as a medium of resistance. Other documentary and essay films that inspire and motivate me to pursue this wonderful and fascinating work of documentary film production are: My Stolen Planet (Farahnaz Sharifi), Scenes of Extraction (Sanaz Sohrabi), Taming the Garden (Salomé Jashi), Nelly et Nadine (Magnus Gertten) and 5 Seasons of Revolution (Lina).

In addition to my work at Mira Film, I work as a junior producer for No Nation Films in Berlin, conduct various gender history city tours for Frauenstadtrundgang Basel and teach on a semester basis at the Department of Media Studies at the University of Basel.
